Conclusion

Our visit to CDW5 offered invaluable insights into the operational dynamics and strategic implementation of information systems within Amazon. Through this experience, we gained a comprehensive understanding of how Amazon leverages technology to uphold its status as a global e-commerce leader.  We discovered that Amazon's success is rooted in its unwavering commitment to efficiency and innovation across its business operations. In the structured process of order sortation, Amazon optimizes operations through custom-developed software and sophisticated hardware systems, ensuring precise, and swift order processing. Meanwhile, in the dynamic process of marketing, Amazon adopts a multi-faceted approach across its website and app, leveraging personalized recommendations and targeted campaigns to effectively engage customers.

We express our sincere gratitude to Nathan Coder, the senior operations manager, for his generous assistance and valuable insights during our visit to CDW5. His expertise and guidance provided us with a deeper understanding of Amazon's order sortation process.

Furthermore, our analysis identified several key areas for improvement, including enhancing network security measures, implementing stricter safety protocols for warehouse workers, and further integrating robotics technology into Amazon's operations. Ariane: I really enjoyed each section of this course. It increased my knowledge of databases and how marketing and its information systems are used by companies. I also found the Excel and Access assignments to be very helpful in my other business classes. Lastly, this project has really shown me how big Amazon is with their AWS software and how advanced and secure their business processes are. As someone who uses Amazon on a weekly basis I can definitely appreciate the work that goes into deliveries and order sortation.

Amy: Through this project, I've gained a deeper understanding of how Amazon utilizes information systems to optimize its business processes, particularly in areas such as order sortation and marketing. The integration of technology, specifically AWS, has underscored the sophistication and efficiency of Amazon's operations. As a frequent Amazon user, I now have a greater appreciation for the intricate processes involved in delivering seamless customer experiences.

Jennessy: Having chosen Amazon, I’ve learned more about the databases they use as well as their business processes that they use to run a successful business. I’ve gained more knowledge about how they implement information systems and how marketing is used to reach consumers.

Prentice: The main component that I have taken away from this project is that information systems are composed of much more than just computers. Not only does it include people but most importantly it is the instructions or protocols that are provided to correctly operate the system. 

Nicolas: I have learned a lot about the information system processes. I have gained a better understanding about the different components of the information system, such as, hardware, software, people, and procedures, and how they work together.
